Designing Natural AI Interactions

As a Product Designer, I worked on shaping the user experience of an AI-powered application, focusing on making interactions feel natural and seamless. I designed how users input prompts, asked questions, and received responses in an intuitive way, while also digging into the AI’s underlying technology to better align the design with how it processes information. This experience not only helped me create smoother interactions but also sparked a deep interest in generative AI, inspiring me to explore its potential to transform creativity, problem-solving, and the future of design.

/Exploring the Research/

I reviewed the previous version to understand the issues.

My initial goal was to analyze the previous version and identify its issues before diving into the new designs. I spent time reviewing user feedback, exploring pain points, and noting inconsistencies in the interface.

/Moving into design/

After doing the research it was time to transition to the design stage.

The product was structured into three main stages: admin users, authentication, and prompt management, along with the AI assistant. Breaking it down this way helped the team focus on each core area separately, ensuring a clear workflow.

/The AI Assitant/

I was responsible for designing the AI assistant.

I was responsible for designing the AI assistant. My challenge was figuring out how to fit all the complex information into a single chat window without overwhelming the user. I started with the first iteration, experimenting with layout, hierarchy, and visual cues to make the conversation clear and easy to navigate.

/The second iteration/

Iterating Based on Feedback

After testing the first version, we gathered user feedback and used it to inform the second iteration of the designs, refining usability and improving the overall experience.

/The Result/

Handoff to Engineering

After completing the second iteration, we finalized the design changes and handed them over to the engineering team. I worked closely with developers to ensure the implementation matched the design vision. Throughout the process, I addressed questions and made minor adjustments to maintain consistency and usability.

I also monitored the development progress, providing feedback on interactions, spacing, and visual details to ensure a polished final product. Regular check-ins helped catch potential issues early, keeping the design aligned with user needs and product goals. This collaboration ensured a smooth transition from design to development while maintaining quality and functionality.
